DURHAM -- N.C. Central will have five captains for its football team this season, Eagles coach Mose Rison announced Tuesday.
Elected to the leadership spots by their teammates are quarterback Stadford Brown, kicker Brandon Gilbert, offensive tackle Jovan Olafioye and running back Jeff Toliver -- all seniors -- along with sophomore defensive end Donald Laster.

DURHAM -- Frank Dascenzo started his career at The Durham Sun in 1969 by interviewing a young basketball player named “Pistol” Pete Maravich. Since then, he has interviewed major figures from the sports world at venues including the Final Four of men’s college basketball and the Stanley Cup finals. His retirement from The Herald-Sun on Monday ends the career of “a kid from Pittsburgh,” as he has referred to himself over the years.

On Wednesday the university's board of trustees approved her appointment to the position, which she has held ever since Bill Hayes left to take a similar position at Florida A&M in early December.
