Today's playoff games
3-A playoffs No. 8 Webb (9-3) at No. 1 Rocky Mount (11-1) The lowdown: Webb cruised to 37-18 first-round win over Wilson Beddingfield last week, but the Warriors likely won’t have such an easy time tonight. Rocky Mount is the No. 1 seed in the East bracket for a reason. The Gryphons lost their first game of the season and then reeled off 11 straight wins, including a 42-7 win over No. 16 seed Jacksonville last week. Webb’s Antwan Thorpe, who ran for four touchdowns and threw for another last week, has been a star for his team all season, but the Warriors will need others to step up for a chance to win this game.
Orange host South Brunswick tonight

He can play basketball, he’s athletic. He’s a big physical guy that can take on any challenge.” Playing on my iPod right now: “Put On” by Young Jeezy Favorite restaurant: McDonald’s Three people I’d invite to dinner: My dad who passed, former teammate Atlas Fraley and my mom Favorite class: Ceramics
Today's football games
No. 11 Fayetteville Pine Forest (5-6) at No. 6 Hillside (9-1-1) The lowdown: Hillside should have no problems with this Fayetteville team – as long as they don’t overlook Pine Forest because of a possible rematch with rival Southern next week. Even though Hillside had the best overall record of the three teams that tied for first in the PAC-6, it got the No. 3 seed out of the conference thanks to a random drawing. Desmond Scott will be the key for the Hornets as he recorded his fifth straight 100-yard rushing game last week in a 28-14 win over Person.
November 13
Southern takes on Athens Drive
Southern coach Adrian Jones doesn't really care too much for the way the PAC-6 determined state playoff seeding between his team, Chapel Hill and Hillside. Spartans' scheduling could give them edge
Tough non-conference scheduling is something second-year Southern boys' basketball coach Art Richmond always has believed in. He said it gets his teams ready for the conference schedule, and it's part of the reason why the Spartans went 12-2 in the PAC-6, 19-9 overall in the 2007-08 season to win the conference title.

Hillside girls have plenty of experience, talent
The past two seasons, Hillside has reached the fourth and third round of the state 4-A girls' basketball playoffs. And with seven seniors returning -- four of them starters -- Coach Ovester Grays feels good about his team's chances of getting that far again this season, if not further.

Unicorns fall just short in state title bid
It was one of the most physical games N.C. School of Science and Math has played all season. And in the end the Unicorns were outmuscled by Topsail 4-1 in the semifinals of the 1-A state playoffs.
Tigers rip Falcons, share title
Chapel Hill may have found a new receiver in one of the most unlikely candidates. Senior Jared McAdoo, who stands at 6-3, 280 pounds and will play at North Carolina next fall as a defensive lineman, caught two touchdown passes -- the first and second of his career -- to help lead the Tigers to a 48-20 win over Jordan and a share of the PAC-6 title Friday.
Orange locks up conference
The only thing sweeter that locking up a conference championship is doing it on senior night. That's what Orange found out Friday night as it put away Cedar Ridge 33-13.
Three 4th-quarter scores help Knights to win
Northern has had a reputation as a strong fourth-quarter team this season. And against East Chapel Hill, the Knights had to be just that in their regular-season finale Friday night.
Spartans blow out Pirates
Southern's Tony Creecy thinks he can score every time he touches the ball -- and for good reason. Creecy scored three touchdowns, the Spartans scored eight touchdowns and the defense stifled Riverside all night en route to a 54-0 thrashing of the Pirates in the final regular season game for both teams.

Today's games
East Chapel Hill (0-10, 0-6) at Northern (4-6, 3-3) The lowdown: Northern enters tonight’s game looking to give Coach Anthony Sullivan a winning PAC-6 record in his first season as head coach. The Knights, who fell at Hillside last week, shouldn’t have too much trouble against winless ECH on Northern’s Senior Night. Quarterback Andrew Peacock will lead the way offensively for the Knights as he’s averaging 182 passing yards per game. The Wildcats, who were shut out by Southern last week, have a tough task ahead of them if they hope to end the season with a win.
Jordan hosts Chapel Hill tonight in regular-season finale
This is not how Jordan running back Jerrell Rhodes pictured his senior season going. Before the season began, the Falcons were projected to be one of the top teams in the PAC-6 and compete for a conference title.
